      Background InformationB-cell-specific coactivator OBF-1(BOB-1) is a transcriptional coactivator protein specific to B-cells. BOB-1 has been shown to interact with transcriptional factors OCT1 and OCT2, binding to their POU domain and mediating transcriptional activity of octamer motifs to varying degrees. Reportedly, BOB-1 is a required component of both the B-cell to antigen response and germinal center formation. The highest observed expression for BOB-1 is in plasma cells and B-cell germinal centers. Expression of BOB-1 has also been observed in B-cell tumors; however, it is considered to be variable.
