      DescriptionAnti-Gemin7 Antibody, clone 6E2
      Alternate Names
      • gem (nuclear organelle) associated protein 7
      • gemin 7
Background InformationGemin7 is a component of the the survival of motor neurons (SMN) complex. The collection of proteins is essential for the biogenesis of small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) complexes in eukaryotic cells. Reduced levels of SMN cause the motor neuron degenerative disease, spinal muscular atrophy. Gemin7 interacts directly with SMN and Gemin6 and mediates association of Gemin6 with the SMN complex.
      Product Information
      • HeLa cell lysate
PresentationPurified mouse monoclonal IgG1κ in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4, 150 mM NaCl) with 0.05% sodium azide
ApplicationAnti-Gemin7 Antibody, clone 6E2 is a Mouse Monoclonal Antibody for detection of Gemin7 also known as gem (nuclear organelle) associated protein 7 & has been validated in WB, ICC & IP.

      Entrez Gene Number
Entrez Gene SummaryThe protein encoded by this gene is a component of the core SMN complex, which is required for pre-mRNA splicing in the nucleus. The encoded protein is found in the nucleoplasm, in nuclear 'gems' (Gemini of Cajal bodies), and in the cytoplasm. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.

      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: The SMN complex plays an essential role in spliceosomal snRNP assembly in the cytoplasm and is required for pre-mRNA splicing in the nucleus.

      SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Part of the core SMN complex that contains SMN1, SIP1/GEMIN2, DDX20/GEMIN3, GEMIN4, GEMIN5, GEMIN6, GEMIN7, GEMIN8 and STRAP/UNRIP. Interacts directly with GEMIN6, SNRPB, SNRPD2, SNRPD3 and SNRPE.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Nucleus › nucleoplasm. Nucleus › gem. Cytoplasm. Note: Found both in the nucleoplasm and in nuclear bodies called gems (Gemini of Cajal bodies) that are often in proximity to Cajal (coiled) bodies. Also found in the cytoplasm.
