      DescriptionAnti-Nicalin Antibody
      Alternate Names
      • Nicalin
      • Nicastrin-like protein
      • NET59
Background InformationNicalin, also referred to as NET59, is a transmembrane signaling factor for the transforming growth factor-beta (TGFbeta) superfamily. Nicalin is thought to negatively regulate Nodals, which are essential in vertebrate development and various cell fate decisions that are key for the proper development of the embryonic body plan. Nicalin is related to the gamma-secretase, Nicastrin which has been associated to Alzheimer’s disease. Nicalin can also associate with NOMO (Nodal modulator) and plays a role in the assembly and the stability of this interaction.

      Control
      • HEK293 cell lysate
PresentationPurified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.
      Applications
ApplicationAnti-Nicalin Antibody is an antibody against Nicalin for use in WB & IC.
      Key Applications
      • Western Blotting
      • Immunocytochemistry
Application NotesWestern Blot Analysis: 1 µg/mL from a representative lot detected Nicalin on 10 µg of C2C12 cell lysate.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot was used by an independent laboratory in IC. (Malik, P., et al. (2010). Cell. Mol. Life Sci. DOI 10.1007/s00018-010-0257-2.)
      Biological Information
ImmunogenKLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human Nicalin.
ConcentrationPlease refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.

      UniProt Number
UniProt SummaryFUNCTION: May antagonize Nodal signaling and subsequent organization of axial structures during mesodermal patterning (By similarity).

SUBUNIT STRUCTURE: Interacts with NOMO2. Due to the strong similarity between NOMO1, NOMO2 and NOMO3, it probably also interacts with NOMO1 and NOMO3. Participates in a large protein complex, which is not related to the gamma-secretase complex.

SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass membrane protein

TISSUE SPECIFICTY: Highly expressed in pancreas and skeletal muscle and, at lower levels, in heart.

SEQUENCE SIMILARITIES: Belongs to the nicastrin family.

SEQUENCE CAUTION: The sequence AAH03076.2 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

The sequence AAH25926.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.

The sequence CAB66502.1 differs from that shown. Reason: Erroneous initiation.
Molecular WeightCalculated 63 kDa; Observed ~90 kDa. Difference between calculated and observed molecular weight possibly result of glycolysation at amino acids 241 and 428.
