      Background InformationWrch-1 (Wnt-1 responsive Cdc42 homolog 1; Rho-related GTP-binding protein RhoU; GTP-binding protein-like 1; or CDC42-like GTPase 1) is a ubiquitous protein belonging to the Rho family of small GTPases. Wrch-1 is structurally and functionally similar to Cdc42 small GTPase but is distinctive in containing N-terminal SH3-binding motifs and exhibiting high intrinsic guanine nucleotide exchange activity. Wrch-1 is regulated by the Wnt-1 signaling pathway. It is a key determinant of cell morphology as it is involved in cell adhesion and cytoskeleton organization.
