Measurement of Sulfite in beer
Spectroquant® Sulfite Test, item 101746
In some countries, especially those with hot climates, sulfite is added to stabilize beer. Acting as an antioxidant and preservative, it extends shelf life. Unfortunately, sulfite can cause allergic reactions in consumers. By limiting the sulfite concentration to 20 mg/l, this can generally be avoided.
You need a sulfite concentration measurement you can rely on, but that’s not easy. The yellow color of beer can interfere with the test reagents in some kits. That’s why you should choose only Merck Millipore’s Spectroquant® Sulfite Test. It provides the accuracy you need. Color interference is avoided by a built-in dilution step during the analysis. Only the color of very intensely yellow beer might interfere. Making sure your beer has the right balance of sulfite is critical to the enjoyment of your customers.
