Software update for Spectroquant® Photometer

Now available: new cell test kits for determination of fluoride and ortho phosphate, as well as total phosphorous

Fluoride, ortho phosphate and total phosphorous are key indicators of the quality of water and its suitability for use in households for example or in certain industrial processes, such as in waste water analysis of food production.

For the Spectroquant® Multy, Spectroquant® NOVA and Spectroquant® Pharo devices, Merck Millipore is offering a software update and additional three pre-programmed Cell Tests kits for the detection of ortho phosphate and total phosphorous as well as one new Cell Test for easy monitoring of the 1.5 ppm Fluoride level in drinking water.

Reliable water analysis

The Spectroquant® Fluoride Cell Test has a measurement range of 0.02 - 1.80 mg/l F, making it ideal for determining the amount in drinking, mineral and percolating water, or sea water and wastewater after appropriate sample pre-treatment.

The following guidelines apply for the levels of ortho phosphate and total phosphorous in water: Groundwater and clean surface water should contain less than 0.01 mg/l PO4-P. This level is only 0.07 mg/l PO4-P for sea water. Amounts of 3 mg/l PO4 and more are generally a result of human contamination. Wastewater from municipal treatment plants should be below 1-2 mg/l total phosphorous.

The new Spectroquant® Phosphate Cell Test kits from Merck Millipore cover the following measurement ranges:

  • 0.05 to 5 mg/l PO4-P: ortho phosphate detection, for example in drinking water, river or lake water, as well as nutrient solutions for fertilization, soil and food samples after appropriate sample pretreatment.
  • 0.5 to 25 mg/l PO4-P: ortho phosphate detection, for example in contaminated groundwater and surface water or from waste water treatment plants
  • 3 to 100 mg/l PO4-P: ortho phosphate and total phosphorous detection, for example in highly contaminated water from the chemical, pharmaceutical or textile industry, as well as from farms, waste water from the oil industry, refineries, disposal plants and recycling facilities
