What’s new in the Spectroquant® Pharo Software Update version 2.03?
ADMI color measurement (according to APHA 2120F standards)
Merck now provides color measurement according to APHA 2120F in addition to the method according to ISO7887. This method is typically used for color measurement in wastewater from textile, electronic, semiconductor, agricultural or chemical industries.
In this method, a single value is determined every 10 nm in the range of 400 to 700 nm. These 30 values are combined and expressed as a single result.
Free ammonium measurement
This method measures the free ammonia in water taking the pH value and temperature into account. The value of free ammonia is important in fish farming and aquaculture to avoid acute aquatic toxicity. This new method is available on Spectroquant® Pharo 100 and Spectroquant® Pharo 300. By using a common ammonium test kit the photometer calculates the amount of free ammonia with this new method.
Chlorophyll measurement
The Update provides three different methods:
- Chlorophyll-a and pheophytin-a measurement corresponding to ASTM D3731-87
The method can measure Chlorophyll-a and pheophytin-a - simply by different handling of the sample. - Chlorophyll-a and pheophytin-a measurement corresponding to DIN38412 /ISO 10260
- Chlorophyll-a, -b, and –c measurement corresponding to ASTM D3731-87
The difference between DIN38412/ISO 10260 and ASTM D3731-87 is the extraction agent used.
UV measurement of Nitrate (only for Spectroquant® Pharo 300)
To estimate the level of nitrate in your sample, Merck offers a new direct, reagent-free method according to APHA 4500-NO3 B. Nitrate is measured at 220 and 275 nm to calculate the result. This is a screening method, for example, to detect nitrate in uncontaminated water that is low in organic matter.
