New: Ready-to-use nuclear fast red - aluminium sulfate solution 0.1% for histology
As one of the world's leading suppliers of microscopy products, Merck also offers a broad product range for histology from special stains to ready-prepared solutions and kits for standard staining methods. Now, we further extend our histology portfolio: Nuclear fast red is now also available as a ready-to-use nuclear fast red - aluminium sulfate solution 0.1%. By using the new product, customers save time and effort: The entire preparation process including boiling, cooling and filtering can be omitted. Moreover, direct contact to the dye is avoided. The launch of the new product is part of Merck’s extensive activities to support customers in changing from self-prepared to ready-to-use products wherever possible.
Nuclear fast red staining is a simple and reliable method of nuclear staining mainly used for high-contrast counterstaining. With nuclear fast red, a well-differentiated red nuclear staining and overview staining can be achieved. To use the dye, it is necessary to add aluminium sulfate which functions as a mordant and forms together with the dye an aluminium dye lake that enables red colouring of the nucleus. A light red staining of cytoplasm and background is due to the remaining free dye that is not bound in the aluminium dye lake.
Nuclear fast red - aluminium sulfate solution 0.1% can be used for nuclear staining when detecting mucosubstances with Alcian blue 8GX or for counterstaining with histochemical reactions, e. g. with the Berlin blue reaction for determining free ionic iron or with silver impregnation to stain reticular fibers. With nuclear fast red - aluminium sulfate solution 0.1%, paraffin sections as well as blood and bone marrow smears can be stained.

- Intestine, Alcian blue - nuclear fast red staining

- Bone marrow, Berlin blue reaction

- Lung, Reticulin silver plating
Like all microscopy products from Merck, the new nuclear fast red - aluminium sulfate solution 0.1% delivers brilliant staining results with highest reproducibility and batch-to-batch stability thanks to our sophisticated quality management. The product belongs to the group of “in vitro diagnostic medical devices” (IVD) according to the directive 98/79/EC of the European Community and complies with CE regulations. Instructions for use, Certificate of Analysis, and Safety Data Sheet are available on the Merck-Chemicals website.
