A macrocyclic ansa macrolide that inhibits mammalian brain tubulin assembly. Reported to competitively bind to Asn100 site of fungal and brain tubulins. A potent anti-mitotic agent that inhibits vinblastine-induced spiral formation. Shows potent cytotoxicity against the human solid tumor cell lines A-549 and HT-29.
