Blocks substance P-induced interleukin-1 production in astrocytes and mitotic cell division in blastomeres. Compared to its parent compound BAPTA (Cat. No. 196418), dibromo-BAPTA has much weaker affinity for Ca2+ (Kd = 1.6 µM vs. 110 nM) and is, therefore, better suited for buffering higher concentrations of Ca2+, both inside and outside the cells. Like BAPTA, dibromo-BAPTA has high selectivity (>105) for Ca2+ over Mg2+.
