Recombinant, human cytochrome P450 3A4 expressed in E. coli. The major heme-containing human liver P450 enzyme that is able to carry out a variety of oxidation, hydroxylation, and dealkylation reactions on a structurally diverse group of compounds. Suitable for in vitro drug metabolism and toxicology studies related to stereo- and/or region-specific hydroxylation reactions. Also suitable for use in reconstituted systems with purified NADPH-P450 oxidoreductase, cytochrome b5, and appropriate lipids.
