Convenient form of hemocyanin that may be used directly for hapten conjugation. Displays similar features as KLH by electron microscopy, but with enhanced solubility. Highly immunogenic in vertebrates due to its phylogenetic distance from vertebrates and its high molecular weight. Antibodies prepared against this hemocyanin do not cross-react with KLH and vice versa.
