Native, enzymatically active, highly purified, histone deacetylase (HDAC) from maize embryos. Shown to be useful for screening of HDAC Inhibitors (IC50 = 7.2 nM for TSA, 10 nM for Trapoxin, 50 nM for SAHA, and 110 nM for HC-Toxin). Reported to be a multimer-protein complex that dissociates into three polypeptides (p39, p42, and p45) upon denaturation.
