A specific and sensitive assay for measuring active protease 3 (PR3) in cell lysates and biological fluids. PR3 is a multifunctional serine protease largely found in the azurophilic granules and on the cell surface of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It is the main target of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmatic antibodies (ANCA) characteristic of patients with Wegener's granulomatosis.
