MagPrep^® P-25 Streptavidin Beads are encapsulated magnetic particles covalently coated with streptavidin. The beads are monodispersed with a diameter of 25 nm and a magnetite content of 90% (w/w). The small bead size ensures that the beads remain in suspension for long periods. This colloidal property is particularly useful for high-throughput streptavidin-capture applications. The high magnetite content contributes to the rapid clearing rate when the beads are placed in a magnetic field. MagPrep^® P-25 Streptavidin Beads are suitable for most molecular biology applications that require capture of a biotinylated molecule. Applications include, but are not limited to, isolation and enrichment of specific DNA sequences and hybrids, cDNA subtraction, capture of cycle sequencing or PCR reaction products, and the isolation of mRNA. The beads are also well-suited for protein-based methods such as immunoprecipitation, phage display biopanning, and micro-scale affinity enrichment of target molecules. Other applications include the isolation of whole cells, enzyme complexes, and organelles.
