MagPrep^® Streptavidin Beads are encapsulated super-paramagnetic polystyrol particles coated with streptavidin. The beads have a diameter of 1 µm and are provided as a stabilized aqueous suspension of 10 mg/ml. The special coating and dense layer of streptavidin on the surface guarantee maximum binding capacity with minimal nonspecific binding. The small size of the beads ensures that they remain suspended in solution during the binding process and the high magnetite content (40%) allows rapid separation from the aqueous phase using a magnet. MagPrep Streptavidin Beads are optimized for molecular applications such as hybrid capture techniques, e.g., isolation and enrichment of specific DNA sequences or mRNAs using appropriate biotinylated probes or primers. The beads are compatible with downstream applications such as sequencing and cDNA synthesis, and can also be used for isolation of biotinylated antibodies or other biotinylated targets.
