Strandase™ λ Exonuclease is a highly purified recombinant form of λ exonuclease. The enzyme digests one strand of a DNA duplex from a 5′ phosphorylated end, releasing 5′ phosphomononucleotides. This property can be exploited to prepare single stranded DNA from PCR products synthesized using one phosphorylated primer and one non-phosphorylated primer (see Strandase ss DNA Preparation Kit). The enzyme is also used in some sequencing strategies. Endonuclease is undetectable. The enzyme is > 95% pure as determined by SDS-PAGE. Supplied as a solution in 50% glycerol.
