New: SeccoSept® for more safety and better handling
Merck Millipore develops innovative closure for SeccoSolv® dried solvents
In order to ensure even better protection and simpler handling for its SeccoSolv® range of dried solvents, Merck Millipore has developed the innovative septum closure SeccoSept®. The new SeccoSept® closure features a very functional design with a rotating cap that in turn exposes and covers five extra-large circular areas of septum for repeated puncturing. Multiple layers of protection make sure that the solvent is always in perfect condition – before, during and after opening.

Better protection
The new SeccoSept® septum closure offers double tamper evidence: A security ring on the screw closure and a seal on the cap opening remove any doubt as to whether the product has been previously opened. The septum used in SeccoSept® is a special PTFE encapsulated polymer disk that fits precisely into the closure, while a safety lip in the closure keeps it securely in place. As a result, the septum can be punctured multiple times without losing stability or becoming porous. The extra-large circular punctuation areas represent another major benefit compared to smaller septum areas which are prone to irreversible damage when punctured repeatedly. Moreover, the special polymer septum has outstanding self-sealing properties that enable rapid sealing of the puncture site. As a matter of course, the properties of the septum exclude any possibility of interaction with the solvent.
Simpler handling
SeccoSept® incorporates a special cap that can be rotated over the septum. An opening in the rotating cap uncovers in turn five apertures in the screw closure below that expose the extra-large circular areas of septum each for repeated punctuation.
Only the septum circle currently in use is exposed to the environment. After removing the solvent the user turns the cap to the sealing position – and the fresh puncture site is immediately protected from potential contaminants. This feature is unique among solutions currently available on the market. When needed, the bottle‘s rotating cap also permits a safe one-handed operation of the septum bottle.
More flexibility
If you need to withdraw larger quantities of solvent, simply take off the entire septum cap. Alternatively, you can remove the yellow cap for simultaneous access to all five septum circles.
SeccoSept® is offered as an alternative to the closure system currently used for the SeccoSolv® product line.
SeccoSolv® – protected quality
The ready-to-use SeccoSolv® dried solvents from Merck Millipore are essential for many laboratory and manufacturing applications in the pharmaceutical, chemical and food industries and at universities. Featuring highest purity and extremely low water content, SeccoSolv® solvents are especially suitable for use e. g. in organic syntheses and Karl Fischer titrations or in DNA/RNA synthesis. Dried solvents also find widespread use in quality control applications. With SeccoSept®, these high-quality products are now even better protected from potential contaminants.
