A synthetic 22-mer (peptide 46), corresponding to the C-terminal amino acid residues 361 - 382 of p53. This peptide is linked to a sequence from the third helix of the Drosophila Antennapedia homeodomain protein to allow cell-permeability. Binds mutant p53 and restores the growth suppressor functions of p53 protein in human tumor cells. Induces apoptosis in human tumor cell lines carrying mutant or wild-type p53 and has no effect in p53 null tumor cell lines.
