BackgroundCTNNBL1 (Beta-catenin-like protein 1) is an apoptosis inducing protein with a structural homology similar to that of beta-catenin. CTNNBL1 is highly conservered across various species and it is primarily expressed in the nucleus of various tissues. In human, CTNNBL1 shows highest expression in skeletal muscle, placenta, heart, spleen, testis, and thyroid tissues. CTNNBL1 has been linked to a possible role in the Wnt/beta-catenin-signaling pathway and may have a function similar to that of beta catenin.
