      ApplicationImmunoblotting (1:1000, colorimetric)
DescriptionRabbit polyclonal antibody supplied as undiluted serum. Recognizes the ~39 kDa latent and the ~21 kDa and ~5 kDa active forms of cathepsin L.
BackgroundCathepsin L is a cysteine proteinase expressed in a variety of cells. The latent ~39 kDa pro-cathepsin L must be processed to the active two-chain form made up of ~21 and ~5 kDa subunits. The pro peptide contains 96 amino acids. Mature Cathepsin L is normally localized in the lysosomes where it plays a major role in intracellular protein catabolism. High levels of cathepsin L expression has been demonstrated for many human tumors including cancers of the kidney, lung, colon, breast and ovary.
