DescriptionImmunoaffinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody. Recognizes the ~15 kDa H2AX protein and the ~24 kDa monoubiquitinated form.
BackgroundThe nucleosome is composed of ~200 bp of DNA and eight histone proteins, two from each of the four histone protein families, H4, H3, H2B, and H2A. H2A includes three subfamilies: H2A1-H2A2, H2AZ, and H2AX (LocusLink ID 3014), which have been conserved throughout eukaryotic evolution. Phosphorylation of H2AX on Ser139 is an early step in the response to DNA damage induced by ionizing radiation. Phosphorylation of H2AX is required for the accumulation of 53BP1 at DNA break sites.
