General description
NOXA1 (NADPH oxidase activator 1; Antigen NY-CO-31; NCF2-like protein; P67phox-like factor; p51-nox) is an activator of the NADPH oxidase NOX1. It contains multiple domains, including four TPR repeats which facilitate interaction with RAC1, and one SH3 domain that binds to NOXO1. NOXA1 interacts with NOXO1, RAC1, NOX1, and CYBA to form a multi-protein complex that produces reactive oxygen species for important cellular processes such as oxygen sensing, hormone biosynthesis, and signal transduction. NOXA1 is found in pancreas, spleen, liver, prostate, colon, and small intestine.
