General description

Syntaxin 8 (STX8) is a vesicle trafficking protein involved in the early secretory pathway, through transport from cis-Golgi membranes to the ER. Syntaxin 8 forms a SNARE complex with STX7, VTI1B, and VAMP8 which is associated with the homotypic fusion of late endosomes. Syntaxin 8 is highly expressed in heart, but also found in brain, kidney, liver, lung, placenta, skeletal muscle, spleen and pancreas.
