Gene Information
human ... GHRHR(2692)
General description
GHRHR is the receptor for growth hormone release hormone (GRF, GHRF). GHRF is first produced between 18 and 29 weeks of gestation and is responsible for the production of growth hormone (GH), and GH is required for proper normal postnatal growth, bone growth, regulatory effects on protein, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism. GHRHR is localized on cells particularly in the anterior pituitary and mutations in this gene have been associated with growth hormone deficiency, or Dwarfism of Sindh. GHRHR is localized on membranes, both plasma and nuclear membranes, and its translocation acts as a first step in the cellular signals leading to exocytotic GH secretion in the anterior pituitary.
~41 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight is 47 kDa, however GHRHR has been shown as a ~41 kDa band in western blots (Zeitler, P., et al. (1998). J. Mol. Endocrinol. 21(3):363-371).
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the cytoplasmic domain of human GHRHR.
Application
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected GHRHR in rat pituitary tissue.
This Anti-GHRHR Antibody is validated for use in Western Blotting and Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) for the detection of GHRHR.
Analysis Note
Evaluated by Western Blotting in human brain tissue lysate.
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:500 dilution of this antibody detected GHRHR in 10 µg of human brain tissue lysate.
