Gene Information

human ... BANF1(8815)

General description

Barrier-to-autointegration factor 1 (BANF1) is a member of the BAF family. BANF1 plays fundamental roles in gene expression, nuclear assembly, chromatin organization and gonad development. BANF1 may be involved in membrane recruitment and chromatin decondensation during nuclear assembly. BANF1 contains two non-specific dsDNA-binding sites which may promote DNA cross-bridging. BANF1 is known to be a host cell component of retroviral pre-integration complexes (PICs), including that of HIV. It’s been shown that retroviruses utilize BANF1 for inhibiting self-destructing autointegration of retroviral DNA, and thereby promoting integration of viral DNA into the host chromosome. BANF1 is expressed widely, and more specifically in colon, brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, ovary, pancreas, placenta, prostate, skeletal muscle, small intestine, spleen and testis.
~24 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may appear in some lysates.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of human BANF1.

Application

Anti-BANF1 Antibody is a highly specific rabbit polyclonal antibody, that targets Barrier-to-autointegration factor 1 & has been tested in western blotting & Immunofluorescence.
Immunofluorescence Analysis: 20 μg/mL from a representative lot detected BANF1 in mouse kidney tissue.

Biochem/physiol Actions

This antibody recognizes the N-terminus of BANF1.

Analysis Note

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse kidney tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 2 µg/mL of this antibody detected BANF1 in 15 µg of mouse kidney tissue lysate.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
