Gene Information
human ... LGI2(55203)
General description
Leucine-rich repeat LGI family member 2 (LGI2) is a member of the LGI family. The LGI family consists of four highly related proteins containing leucine-rich repeats (LRRs) which are highly similar to other transmembrane signaling molecules and receptors. LGI1 has been identified as a candidate tumor suppressor gene for glioma and plays a role in autodominant lateral temporal epilepsy (ADTLE), an epileptic syndrome characterized by focal seizures with predominant auditory symptoms. Despite its high homology with LGI1 and similar pattern of expression, mutations in LGI2 have not been found to be associated with ADTLE.
~63 kDa observed. An uncharacterized band may appear at ~49 kDa in some lysates.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of human LGI2.
Application
Detect the LGI2 protein using this Anti-LGI2 validated for use in WB.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:500 dilution from a representative lot detected LGI2 in human midbrain tissue.
Biochem/physiol Actions
This LGI2 antibody is predicted to be specific to LGI2 and not recognize other LGI proteins. Three isoforms of LGI2 are known to exist; this LGI2 antibody will recognize only the longest.
Analysis Note
Evaluated by Western Blot in HEK293 cell lysate.
Western Blot Analysis: 2 µg/mL of this antibody detected LGI2 in 15 µg/mL of HEK293 cell lysate.
