Anti-FKBP5 Antibody

FK506 binding protein 51 (FKBP5) is a ubiquitous immunophilin, which has been implicated in multiple mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder, through its regulation of multiple enzymes, transcription factors, and other signaling molecules. It is also a well known co-chaperone of the Hsp90 protein, which regulates the signaling of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR), by a negative feedback mechanism. The expression of FKBP5 increases with rising glucocorticoid levels, and FKBP5 in turn decreases GR signaling by promoting nuclear translocation of GR isoforms. In contrast, FKBP5 functions as a positive regulator of the androgen receptor.
