Gene Information

General description
Ubiquitin-protein ligase E3A, also known as E6AP ubiquitin-protein ligase or Human papillomavirus E6-associated protein or Oncogenic protein-associated protein E6-AP or Renal carcinoma antigen NY-REN-54, and encoded by the gene name UBE3A or E6AP or EPVE6AP or HPVE6A, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, part of the ubiquitin protein degradation system. This imprinted protein is maternally expressed in brain and biallelically expressed in other tissues. Maternally inherited deletion of this protein causes Angelman Syndrome, characterized by severe motor and intellectual retardation, ataxia, hypotonia, epilepsy, absence of speech, and characteristic facies. The protein also interacts with the E6 protein of human papillomavirus types 16 and 18, resulting in ubiquitination and proteolysis of tumor protein p53.
~100 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may be observed in some lysate(s).

Preparation Note
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.
