Gene Information
human ... WAPAL(23063)
General description
Wings apart-like protein homolog (also known as Friend of Epstein-Barr virus nuclear protein 2) is a nuclear protein encoded by the WAPL (WAPAL) gene in human. Wapl functions as a negative regulator of cohesin–chromosome association and facilitates the progression of mitosis both during interphase and prophase. In interphase, Wapl destabilizes cohesin–chromosome interaction and thereby reduces the extent of cohesin-mediated chromosome looping. In prophase, mitotic kinases phosphorylate cohesin and its regulators. Wapl then triggers the release of phosphorylated cohesin from sister chromatids, allowing sister chromosome decatenation by topoisomerase II (Topo II). (PMID 24156811).
~175 kDa observed
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to human WAPL.
Application
Anti-WAPL Antibody, clone 1C7-B1 is an antibody against WAPL for use in Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation.
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: 1.0 mL tissue culture supernantant of this antibody immunoprecipitated WAPL in HeLa cell lysate (Professor Haruhiko Siomi, Keio University School of Medicine).
