Pannexin 1 (PANX1) belongs to the innexin family. Innexin family members are the structural components of gap junctions. Pannexin 1 and pannexin 2 are abundantly expressed in central nerve system (CNS) and are coexpressed in various neuronal populations. Studies in Xenopus oocytes suggest that Pannexin 1 alone and in combination with pannexin 2 may form cell type-specific gap junctions with distinct properties.

Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human fetal brain, SH-SY5Y, Caco-2, and NIH:OVACAR-3 lysates.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000-10,000 dilution of this antibody detected Pannexin 1 in human fetal brain, SH-SY5Y, Caco-2, and NIH:OVACAR-3 lysates.
