Turning column packing from art into science: Systematic approach to packing Protein A columns

Webinar

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • To apply a science-based approach to improve column packing from bench development to manufacturing.
  • What factors influence Protein A column-packing quality and process performance.
  • How to prepare, homogenize, and handle resin slurries consistently and what determines appropriate resin quantity.
  • What are suitable packing buffers, equipment, and operating conditions.
  • To establish packing conditions that support reproducible bed quality and pressure-flow behavior.
  • How to characterize packed columns using pressure-flow measurements and chromatographic peak-shape analysis.

Eugene Sun is a Chromatography MSAT/Process Development Scientist providing technical support to customers for our company's recently acquired Amsphere®  A3 and A+ Protein A resins. His responsibilities include onsite column packing, process optimization, troubleshooting, and resin evaluations. Eugene joined our company from Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he spent five years as a Field Application Scientist supporting process development and manufacturing customers across antibody, cell and gene therapy, and nucleic acid modalities. Prior to his field-based role, he spent more than a decade in downstream process development, beginning with early-stage development at MedImmune and advancing to late-stage development at Amgen. Across these roles, Eugene specialized in the purification of monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies, and biosimilar programs.
