General description
HEPESは、生物学的研究に利用できる最良の万能緩衝液の一つとして報告されています。生物学的pHでは、分子は両性イオンであり、pH 6.8～8.2での緩衝剤として効果的です。HEPESは、組織培養など様々な用途に使用されています。通常、細胞培養液を大気条件下で緩衝するために使用されます。HEPESは、Mg（マグネシウム）に関するin vitro実験にも使用されます。
Application
HEPESは以下の目的で使用されています：
- S. Typhymurium接種菌の培養に使用するSAPI培地の成分として
- PC12細胞用の分化培地を調製するために。これは、培地RPMIの成分でもあります
- ラット皮質ニューロンを培養するための解剖用緩衝液の成分として
- 哺乳動物シナプスを検出するためのmGRASP法における低張緩衝液中のMgCl2、KClおよびスペルミンとともに
- アガロースゲル調製に使用されるDanieu水槽水の成分として
