myo-イノシトールは、i-イノシトールとも呼ばれる糖アルコールであり、動物と微生物の両方の増殖因子として機能します。疑似ビタミンに分類されており、体内で重要な役割を担うにも関わらず、その欠乏によって病的状態が生じないため必須ビタミンの基準には適合しません。このポリオールは豊富に存在し、真核細胞二次メッセンジャーの構造要素として機能し、インスリンシグナル伝達および細胞骨格変換などの生物学的プロセスにおいて極めて重要な役割を果たします。

Myo-イノシトールは、ホスファチジルイノシトール（PI）や、そのさまざまなリン酸塩の構造脂質、例えばホスファチジルイノシトールリン酸（PIP）脂質などの主要な成分です。Myo-イノシトールは、オスモライト、細胞培養培地添加剤、栄養素、ホスホイノシチドホスホリパーゼC阻害剤、および代謝産物の役割を果たします。細胞シグナル伝達に関与して腫瘍細胞分化を刺激するおそれがあり、細胞膜リン脂質、血漿リポタンパク、および核に見られ、化学的予防特性を示す可能性があります。Myo-イノシトールは、細胞培養、メタボロミクスおよび生化学の研究に使用されている汎用性の高い化合物であり、細胞過程と、それが健康や病気に及ぼす影響を調べるために役立っています。

Biochem/physiol Actions

myo-イノシトール（MI）は、浸透圧調節物質として機能し、細胞膜構造やミエリンシート構造の形成に役立っています。膜ホスホイノシチドやリン脂質の重要な前駆体として機能します。myo-イノシトール（MI）の濃度上昇は、アルツハイマー病、大脳神経膠腫症、糖尿病などのさまざまな脳疾患で確認されます。′myo-イノシトールは、膜リン脂質、糖タンパク質を細胞膜に結合させることのできるグリコシルホスファチジルイノシトールアンカー、およびイノシトールリン酸セカンドメッセンジャーの成分です。
