      Background InformationHomeobox protein cut-like 1 (CUX1) is also known as CCAAT displacement protein (CDP) and Homeobox protein cux-1. CUX1 is thought to repress expression of developmentally regulated genes involved in mammalian development, likely through the prevention of CCAAT factor binding at promoters. CUX1 also represses T-cell receptor (TCR) beta enhancer function by binding to matrix attachment region beta (MARbeta), and is a component of the nf-munr repressor, which binds to matrix attachment regions (MARs) of the immunoglobulin heavy chain enhancer.
