      Background InformationJumonji domain-containing protein 2D (JMJD2D) is also called Lysine-specific demethylase 4D and JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 3D. JMJD2D is a histone demethylase that specifically demethylates both di- and trimethylated H3 'Lys-9', but not monomethylated histone H3 'Lys-9' residues. JMJD2D also does not demethylate histone H3 'Lys-4', H3 'Lys-27', H3 'Lys-36' or H4 'Lys-20'.
