General description

Alzheimer′s disease (AD) is a common progressiveneurodegenerative disease eventually leading to fatality.Significant accumulation of pathological proteinaceous depositsin the brain, including Aβ plaques, are present decades beforesymptoms can be perceived. As such, the delay betweenpathological brain chemistry changes and symptoms creates awindow of opportunity for potential treatments.BioTracker IRI-1 b-Amyloid plaque live cell dye is a near-infrared-emissive two-photon microscopy (TPM) dye with high affinity for Aß-fibrils. The dye demonstrates a ~167-fold increase in fluorescence in the presence of Aß-fibrils. SCT067 achieves this while maintaining large two-photon cross-section, a large signal to background ratio, high BBB permeability, and emission reaching into the near-infrared (NIR, 650 nm). This dye has been used for ex-vivo and in vivo TPM imaging of Aß-fibrils in mouse brains.
