“Measuring Low-Abundant Neuroscience Biomarkers: Closing the Sensitivity Gap with Custom SMC® Assays”
Neuroscience biomarkers such as neurofilaments, tau species, and cytokines are often present in blood and CSF at concentrations too low for conventional immunoassays, leaving many samples below the quantifiable range and limiting what a study can conclude. This talk describes how a single molecule counting technology closes the sensitivity gap, and how a bioanalytical CRO develops fit-for-purpose custom SMC® assays so low-abundant analytes can be measured reliably in relevant matrices.
Speaker: Alok Pandey, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, PBL Assay Science
Date & Time: Sunday, November 15, 2026 @ 2:30PM
Location: Grand Theater
"Winning Westerns: Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Western Blot"
Western blotting is a foundational technique for detecting specific proteins in a complex sample. Although blotting protocols are straight-forward, achieving consistent and high-quality results often depends on a series of critical decisions throughout the process. In this seminar, we will review the Western blotting workflow and discuss common challenges and troubleshooting techniques at each step, with a particular focus on membrane selection and transfer optimization. Through practical examples, you will learn how to optimize experimental conditions, minimize background, and generate reliable results. Join us for a collection of proven tips, tricks, and strategies designed to help you create consistently successful Western blots.
