General description

Cortisol and melatonin are essential regulators of circadian rhythms and stress responses in human physiology. Cortisol, a glucocorticoid hormone produced by the adrenal cortex, orchestrates stress adaptation through gluconeogenesis, anti-inflammatory pathways, and immune modulation, while exhibiting characteristic diurnal variation with morning peaks. Melatonin, synthesized primarily in the pineal gland, serves as the master regulator of circadian cycles and provides potent antioxidant protection, making simultaneous quantification of these hormones crucial for understanding sleep disorders, stress-related conditions, and chronobiological research.

Application

MILLIPLEX® Qualified assays undergo rigorous assay development, verification, and Quality Control testing to achieve optimal performance. Simultaneously analyze up to 2 analytes in human serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and cell culture supernatants and lysates.

Analytes included: Cortisol, Melatonin.

Note: Serum and plasma samples require extraction using acetonitrile precipitation or an extraction plate. See kit protocol for details.
