Features and Benefits

Reliable IgE Quantification: Ideal for studying type I hypersensitivity, allergic responses, and atopic conditions, supporting research into asthma, rhinitis, anaphylaxis, and other IgE-mediated disorders.Minimal Sample Volume: Requires only 50 µL of 1:50 diluted serum, plasma, or cell culture supernatant per well.Verified Specificity: No detectable cross-reactivity with other immunoglobulins.Efficient Protocol: One 1-hour and two 30-minute room temperature incubations streamline workflow.

General description

Found only in mammals, Immunoglobulin E (IgE) plays an essential role in allergic reactions and is predominantly associated with type 1 hypersensitivity. IgE is the least abundant immunoglobulin isotype in normal individuals, present at only 0.05% of IgG serum concentrations. It is capable of triggering robust immune reactions, with up to 10 times the typical level detected in the serum of atopic patients, although increased levels occur only in approximately 50% of patients with allergic disorders. IgE binds with high affinity to FcεRI, found primarily on mast cells and basophils, priming the cells to recognize specific antigens such as dust mites, pet dander or pollen. Once primed and with repeated exposure to the same antigen, these cells release molecules such as histamines, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, resulting in an “allergic reaction”.
