Biochem/physiol Actions

AM1710 is a highly potent and selective CB2 agonist that displays 54-fold selectivity for CB2 over CB1. AM1710 is a low potency inverse agonist/antagonist at CB1 in vitro but is not a functional CB1 antagonist in vivo. It inhibits chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain in rodents while delaying the development of morphine tolerance and reduced naloxone-precipitated opioid withdrawal.

Application

AM1710 may be used to study the effects of CB2 agonists on neuropathic nociception induced by the antiretroviral agent Zalcitabine, in a mouse model.

General description

AM1710, a CB2 agonist, belongs to the class of cannabinoids known as cannabilactones. Cannabilactones are characterized by the presence of a carbonyl group instead of the 6,6-dimethyl group typically found in the classical tricyclic structure of cannabinoids.
