Application
Magnesium is generally used in the preparation of various organomagnesium compounds such as Grignard reagents, that are widely used in organic synthesis.
It can also be used to catalyze Pinacol coupling, Reformatsky reaction and degradation of carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
