Gene Information

human ... PRKD1(5587)

General description

Protein kinase D1 (PRKD1) belongs to the protein kinase D family. It is a serine/threonine kinase which is expressed in mammary glands. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 14q12.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 376-390 of human PRKD1.

Application

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein kinase D1 (PRKD1) has a role in insulin secretion in the islets of Langerhans. The protein has a role in various cellular processes like DNA synthesis, cell cycle progression, initiation of the nuclear factor κ-B pathway, vesicular trafficking and apoptosis. It conserves epithelial phenotype by inhibiting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. PRKD1 acts as an effector of diacylglycerol and protein kinase C.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
