Application

Saccharin was used in high performance liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous separation and determination of acesulfame potassium, saccharine and aspartame. It was used in sweet preference test of rats.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Dietery administration of saccharin after N-methyl-N′-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine promotes tumor development in rats.
A sweet tastant for mammals. A glycerol taste receptor binding site specific for glucose has been proposed in drosophila.
