General description
Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide 30-hydrate is commonly used as a strong base and phase-transfer catalyst in organic synthesis. Tetrabutylammonium hydroxide 30-hydrate (TBAH) dissolved in HPLC grade diethyl ether has been used to compose the solvent system in a study.
Application
Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxide 30-hydrate (TBAOH) can be used as:
- A catalyst in the hydroxyalkylation reaction of phenols with cyclic carbonates to synthesize aryl β-hydroxyethylethers.
- A base for the selective degradation of lignins to monomeric aromatics.
- A reactant to synthesize hydroxyfuroxan tetrabutylammonium salts by reacting with nitrofuroxans.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a globally distributed persistent organic pollutant that has been found to bioaccumulate and biomagnify in aquatic food webs. Although principally in its linear isomeric configuration, 21-35% of the PFOS manufactured via electrochemical fluorination is produced as
