  1. Which document(s) contains shelf-life or expiration date information for a given product?

If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

  2. How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?

The lot specific COA document can be found by entering the lot number above under the "Documents" section.

  3. What type of cylinder does the Product 295426, Hydrogen Chloride, come in?

The Hydrogen Chloride is packaged in a lecture bottle.  The cylinder will be about one foot in length and about two inches in diameter.  For 295426-227G, the valve on the cylinder has a CGA 180M / 110F fitting on it, while DIN 477-1 fittings are found on 295426-230-EU.  The cylinder mass is approximately 1023g (empty) and the valve mass is approximately 206g, giving a total approximate mass of 1229g.  The cylinders are DOT rated (rating is stamped on cylinder).

  4. What is the pressure of the cylinder containing Product 295426, Hydrogen Chloride?

    Approximately 600psi.

  5. Can empty lecture bottles be returned?

Yes, empty lecture bottles can be returned using one of two methods.  You can either call Technical Service at 1-800-231-8327 or send an email to techserv@sial.com to have a Lecture Bottle Return Packet sent to you.  The packet will include terms and conditions for returning the cylinder(s) and fees.  Cylinders cannot yet be returned in Europe.  Please note:  Cylinders must be empty to be accepted.

  6. What equipment is needed to use the Hydrogen Chloride cylinder for Product 295426?

Since Hydrogen Chloride is a corrosive gas, only Stainless Steel or Monel equipment should be used.  For 295426-227G, Monel control valve Z146978 or Monel gas regulators Z406058, Z406066 are recommended.  We would also recommend a Cross Purge Assembly, Z562483 be used in conjunction with the regulators.  A Stainless Steel Hose Barb Adapter Z146838 may also be needed depending on the setup being used.  For 295426-230-EU, regulators Z742162 or Z742164 are recommended.

  7. Is there a deposit for the cylinder containing Product 295426, Hydrogen Chloride,?

No, we do not require a deposit for lecture bottle cylinders.  However, you can return the lecture bottles.
