Activin A Human

Activins, members of the TGF-beta superfamily, are disulfide-linked dimeric proteins originally purified from gonadal fluids as proteins that stimulated pituitary follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) release. Activin proteins have a wide range of biological activities, including mesoderm induction, neural cell differentiation, bone remodeling, hematopoiesis and roles in reproductive physiology. The biological activities of Activin A can be neutralized by inhibins and by the diffusible TGF-β antagonist, follistatin. Humankine Activin A is disulfide linked homodimer with an apparent molecular mass of 25 kDa. This cytokine is produced in a serum-free, chemically defined media.

HumanKine growth factors are expressed in a proprietary human 293 protein expression system and are manufactured without the use of any animal products and are considered Xeno-Free.

Product is presented in PBS and filtered through a 0.2 micron filter before lyophilization.

Store at -20°C for up to 4 months from date of receipt. Further dilutions should be made into appropriate buffer or medium to which protein has been added.

Bioactivity assay: determined by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of mouse MPC-11 cells. ED50 is typically 0.5-5 ng/ml.
