General description

Heparin lithium is a highly sulfated polysaccharide that belongs to the family of glycosaminoglycans with remarkable significance in the areas of cell culture, cancer biology, biochemical, and drug discovery research. Due to its interactions with proteins and cells, it is used to study molecular and cellular processes, tumor modeling, investigate binding interactions, and as a cell culture supplement, to maintain cell viability.

Application

Heparin lithium was used:
  • To validate photometric measurements in cell surface charge determination
  • As an anti-coagulant for laboratory studies
  • To study hypothermal stress on lactate metabolism
  • To study the effects of anticoagulants in direct membrane feeding assays
  • For 2D and 3D vitro cell culture in glioblastoma cell models
  • To prevent clot formation and tissue damage during mechanical probing of cardiac pacemaker cell embryonic patterning, a study that contributes to the broader area of cardiac tissue mechanics research and developmental biology

Features and Benefits

  • Heparin with specific activity of ≥150 USP units/mg
  • Versatile and adaptable for a wide variety of laboratory and research applications
