General description

Our high-purity lithium rod with a diameter of 12.7 mm is a cylindrical piece of metal made of lithium, a highly reactive, silvery-white metal. Lithium is one of the lightest and most electropositive metals, making it highly reactive. Lithium is a good conductor of electricity and heat, has a low melting point (180 °C), and is soft and ductile.

Application

Lithiummetal is widely used to fabricate anode material for rechargeable batteries dueto its low negative electrochemical potential and high theoretical specificcapacity.

An efficient one-pot synthesis of optically active β-alkyl-substituted alcohols through a tandem copper-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation (AAA) with organolithium reagents and reductive ozonolysis is presented. Furthermore, hydroboration-oxidation following the Cu-catalyzed AAA leads to the corresponding homochiral γ-alkyl-substituted alcohols.
