Application

o-Xylene may be used as a solvent for the synthesis of N,N-dimethyl-5β-cholest-3-ene-5-acetamide from cholest-4-en-3β-ol. It may also be used as a starting material in the preparation of o-xylyl bromide, 4-bromo-o-xylene{45 and o-toluic acid.
